Underneath every Theological Rock of Contention history has shown one aspect common to them all. That is, a disproportionate emphasis of part of the Doctrine of God, that in itself considered in isolation may reflect and diffract rays of truth wonderful to behold. But, like all things that reflect light there is a mixture of emitted radiation that mingles with and shifts the color of the original source.
If one is building an enduring structure it would be a mistake to reject such stones out of hand. But if they would become ‘lively stones’ capable of insertion into a larger structure then they must undergo reshaping by a wise master builder to fit together with other stones.
As Christians who recognize the foundation stones of the Law and the Prophets as given to ancient Israel, the chief corner stone is Jesus of Nazareth, declared to be the Son of God, by the Father and in the Power of the Holy Spirit. Of him it is witnessed:
“For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. No man has seen God at any time; the One, unique Son, who was, and is in the bosom of the Father, that One has declared Him.” Jn. 1:17,18
The force of that testimony, as contrasted with the dispensation of the Law, teaches that God has put the full orbed display of his Name or Character on exhibition before the world in the life, teaching, atoning death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He was first introduced to Israel as ‘the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world’ and in truth that is how he is ever introduced to every tribe, and nation under heaven.
That is the purpose of this blog, and that which it presumes to represent.
